A THIRD of Year 6 pupils at Barfield School have been awarded scholarships to their chosen senior schools.

Seven scholarships have been awarded across academia and sports to schools spanning King Edward’s School, Witley; Salesian College, Farnborough; Lord Wandsworth School, Hook; Bromsgrove School, Worcestershire; and Prior’s Field, Godalming.

Headmaster at the Runfold-based prep school, James Reid said: “These fantastic results are a well-deserved representation of the enthusiasm, dedication and hard work of the children and teachers throughout their time at Barfield.

“I am very proud of all of our Year 6 pupils, who have, without exception, achieved to the best of their ability.”

The results continue an unbroken record of 25 years obtaining scholarships, across academia, art and sport, to chosen senior schools and marks the 21st sports scholarship in the past ten years.

One of the pupils, Alex Blake-Pead, who was awarded both an academic and sporting scholarship, said: “I just feel so happy at Barfield.

“I think the fact we get the freedom to discuss and we learn in a fun way, both in the classroom and on the sports pitch, helps me to remember what I need to learn.

“This is what I think has led to our scholarship successes.

“My examinations were very challenging and I was speechless with pleasure when I heard I had obtained two scholarships.”
