NEVER mind the rain, it was fun all the way for Haslemere Mayor Malcolm Carter and youngsters from St Edmund’s School, at the opening of Little Ed’s Nursery’s very own sensory garden.
A delighted Mr Carter, who opened the new facility with Adam Walker, the Hindhead school’s headmaster, said “What an inspiring and fun outside area for children to learn and explore.’
Months in the making, the team at Little Ed’s are delighted with their new outside play area and the fun and exciting opportunities it provides.
Karen Bailey, nursery manager said: “I was really keen to have a free-flow design where the children could choose how and where to play in their garden and make independent choices on how to use the areas and equipment.
“It was also important to create a space to allow for physical, sensory play, role-play, construction and mark-making and the designers have certainly ticked all of the boxes”.
With the official ribbon cutting over Mr Carter enjoyed a special guided tour by excited children where he tried out the musical instruments in the sensory area before moving onto the Bug Hotel and the large construction zone.
“I’m only sad I did not get a chance to have a go at baking in the mud kitchen,” said Mr Carter with a smile.
