A Farnham school has been ranked among the top 10 primary schools in England after climbing to ninth place in the latest Sunday Times Parent Power guide.

South Farnham School also retained its place as the second-best primary school in the South East and was named Highly Commended Primary School of the Year in the 2026 guide, which ranks the top 1,000 schools in England based on Key Stage 2 results.

The school was previously ranked joint 22nd nationally in the 2025 Parent Power guide. Its rise to ninth place this year represents one of the strongest performances by any primary school in the region.

Headteacher Esther Franks said: "We are delighted to share that South Farnham School has been named Highly Commended Primary School of the Year 2026. This fantastic recognition reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by the whole school community."

She added that the school's focus on delivering an ambitious and inclusive curriculum ensured every child was supported to thrive, achieve and enjoy their learning.

South Farnham School continues to go from strength to strength after it achieved an "Outstanding" Ofsted rating for the fifth consecutive inspection in May 2024. Inspectors judged the school to be outstanding in all areas, including leadership, behaviour, personal development and quality of education.

In 2025, South Farnham School was appointed a lead school by Surrey Arts as part of an initiative to enhance music education across the county.

Parent Power, now in its 33rd year, is widely regarded as the most popular annual survey of primary and secondary school performance in the country.

Published by The Sunday Times, it features the top 1,000 primaries in England and celebrates schools demonstrating excellence in both academic outcomes and broader educational provision.
