ST Peter’s School’s recent SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) graded the school’s effectiveness as a Church school as outstanding in every area.

The report stated that ’pupils spiritual development is outstanding and they show tolerance to those of all faiths and none. The great majority of pupils make good or better progress from their starting points’.

Referring to teaching, inspectors found that the overall quality of teaching and learning over time is outstanding. With teachers demonstrating high levels of subject knowledge and their questioning skills require children to explore ideas and think deeply.

Headteacher Sarah Dunning said: “We are delighted that the dedication and talent of the staff and the enthusiasm of the pupils has been recognised in this inspection.

“Relationships between staff and pupils were judged to be excellent and through the Christian distinctiveness which is actively promoted, we were graded as outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners. Our school is constantly improving as we strive to raise standards across all areas of learning.”

The report also mentioned the strong links with St Peter’s Church and the extensive support for charities both at home and overseas. All Church of England schools are inspected every five years.
