RECEPTION class children at St Polycarp’s Primary School performed their nativity play on Wednesday, based on the journey of the star whivh led the kings and shepherds to Bethlehem.
Throughout the play, the star found it hard to shine and so neither the kings nor shepherds knew where to go.
The other stars, angels and Christmas children tried a variety of ways to help the star shine; they read to him, danced, told him jokes and sung to him.
Eventually, two little stars took the big star, played by Milo Talty, to see Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in the stable. The big star felt that the baby Jesus loved him and it was this that helped him shine, lighting the way for the shepherds and kings.
When the star began to shine, Milo’s costume lit up and he looked just like a real star, thanks to his mum’s costume creating skills.
At the end of the production, all the children performed We Wish You a Merry Christmas on stage.
According to the school, the children “loved performing and had practised their songs and lines so hard”.
Mary was played by Zoe Gow, Joseph by Aaran Taylor and their faithful donkey by Wilfred Carver.
