TEENAGERS from Mill Chase Academy have been given a tour of the Future Skills Centre in Bordon.

Their 90-minute visit gave tham a taste of what it would be like to work in the construction industry.

With their home town expanding all around them, it was an ideal chance for the pupils to investigate the appeal of this work on their doorstep.

Mill Chase was one of six schools sending children to the Future Skills Centre on March 22 - the others were Bohunt in Liphook, Woolmer Hill in Haslemere, Amery Hill in Alton, Eggar’s in Holybourne and Green Room in Kingsley.

The session began with a presentation giving a general overview of the Future Skills Centre, and its purpose, continuing vision, successes to date and plans for the future.

There was then a tour of the facilities, some construction-related activities and an opportunity to talk in more depth with centre staff and representatives from building companies.
