ALTON Community Centre provided the venue over five weeks in the summer for more than 200 young people, in 20 groups, taking part in the National Citizenship Service (NCS) programme.
Run in East Hampshire by Personal Best Education, NCS is a three to four-week voluntary personal and social development programme for 15 to 17 year olds, funded largely by the government.
Having spent the first two weeks engaging in outdoor activities, team building and life-skills projects, in their third week the teams came to Alton where they took part in community-based social action projects ranging from decorating and environmental work to running a music festival.
