BARROW Hills School, Witley, is celebrating winning the Surrey Prep Schools Under 11s Cup.

The Under 11 squad travelled to Godalming’s Charterhouse School to take part in the competition, coming up against 27 other Surrey schools.

They were crowned champions following an exciting game against Chinthurst in the final.

It was one of the most competitive finals ever, with both teams battling hard for the coveted title.

Barrow Hills took the lead half way through the first half, and with the score remaining 1-0 until half time, the outcome hung in the balance.

Chinthurst came close to equalising several times during the second half, hitting the post twice.

But, at the final whistle, Barrow Hills’ single goal was enough to lift the cup.

The jubilant team comprising captain James Berry, Matthew Haines, Tom Vautier, Dominic Jolliffe, William Newman, Tommy Scudamore, Theo Shaw, Cade Tierney and Louis Vacula-Ashton are pictured.

Delighted Barrow Hills coach Jonjo Conway said: “The boys put in an amazing performance.

“Not only did they show resilience and determination by working so hard in the face of strong competition in the final match to maintain their initial lead, but they also played brilliantly as a team and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the championship.

“The whole school is extremely proud of what they have achieved Well done to all the children who took part.”
