SURROUNDED by four generations of her family, Eileen Green, from Kingsdale Home in Haslemere, celebrated her 104th birthday on Sunday with a surprise party.

Eileen was surrounded by masses of flowers and cards as around 20 members of her family joined in the great day, with a birthday tea and a special cake.

Among the guests were her children, Mabel, Dot, Peggy and John as well as many of her grandchildren, two great grand children and the youngest members of the family, two baby great, great grandsons.

Many of her relations made the journey from Brighton and staff at the home said their eldest resident "had a wonderful time".

Mrs Green has been a resident of Kingsdale since the late 1990s when she moved from a bungalow at Lion Green.

Daughter Peggy Trower said the family moved to Grayshott some 40 years ago, where her father took up a job as a farm worker.

He later worked as a gardener at a property in Farnham Lane before the couple retired and moved to Lion Green.

Mrs Green, who enjoys sitting in the garden at Kingsdale and is able to walk short distances, also loves going out and about in a wheelchair and being taken out for a drive.

Apart from suffering from deafness and failing eyesight Mrs Trower said her mother was "marvellous".

She has made Kingsdale her home and is very happy there," she said.
