A SIXTY-three-year-old woman was still in a critical condition in hospital on Wednesday after being trapped under a car in Chestnut Avenue last Friday evening.
The woman was believed to have been lying in the road after a possible fall when a woman in a silver Mazda car reversed from a driveway and drove over her, trapping her beneath the back wheels of the car.
The accident happened around 5-30 pm close to the former school in Chestnut Avenue.
Fire crews from two Haslemere fire engines took 20 minutes to free the woman who suffered life-threatening head and internal injuries in the accident.
She was taken to The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and is still in intensive care but understood this week to be improving.
The woman driver suffered severe shock.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the accident. Anyone who can help should phone Pc Christopher Annetts from the collision investigation unit on 01932 569922.
