AN elderly couple were confronted by burglars at their home just off Petworth Road in Milford, on New Year's Eve.

Two men forced entry into the property at around 7pm and carried out a search of the two bedrooms before entering the living room where the householder was sitting.

They demanded money from the man and when his wife came into the room, one of the burglars hit the 76-year-old with a bag, and she fell to the floor.

The burglars then left through the front door taking various items of property, including three silver lockets, a gold watch and chain and a handbag.

Police are appealing for information.
