HART District Council and its election team are looking for bright, enthusiastic locals to help them in this year’s annual canvassing.

The council is looking to recruit a number of electoral records officers to assist in the creation of the Register of Electors.

Officers will be employed from mid-October until the end of November throughout the district to call on residents who have not returned their household enquiry form, and if necessary, to help them complete the form.

It is expected that most of the work will need to be done during the evenings and the weekend. The council also notes that this work can also be done during any spare time or alongside a full-time job.

Speaking about the role, Daryl Phillips, joint chief executive and Returning Officer for Hart, said: “Every year the council has a legal duty to undertake a canvass of households over the autumn and produce a revised Register of Electors by December 1which lists all the people registered to vote within the district.

“We are looking for local people to undertake this canvassing on behalf on the council. If you are interested in offering a helping hand, and earning some extra money, please get in touch.”
