IT was the end of an era for pupils and staff at Weybourne Infant School and emotions were high as they celebrated their last year under their current title.
This comes after the amalgamation of William Cobbett Junior School and Weybourne Infant School got the go ahead earlier this year - as of September 2015, both schools will be referred to as William Cobbett Primary.
Previous headteacher Jan Earney graced the school grounds for one last goodbye and gave a speech reminiscing about the past and how the school was built.
Alongside Mrs Earney, the school was privileged and excited for the return of David Trenaman (now 81) who was the first head of Weybourne Infant School, when it first opened in 1972.
Ex-staff members felt the day was “lovely and a fitting tribute to the school” and felt very appreciated to be invited back one last time and to see first hand what the future will hold for the school.
Julie Campbell former head at All Saints Infant School and interim headteacher at Weybourne Infant School, will as of September be taking on the full-time role as head at William Cobbett Primary. She said: “It was a lovely day, we had over 40 people join us including the previous teachers and staff members and parents.
“I believe it was a great tribute, everyone had so much love and care for the school. We also had a cake made which had the schools logo on the top and Mr Trenaman was the first the cut the cake.”
