ANDREWS Endowed School welcomed back a former pupil on Monday to lead their Sports Relief activities.

Hampshire county cricketer Brad Taylor visited his old primary school to lead an assembly for the children, telling of his journey to success and reminding them of the need to "practice hard, work hard and never give up on their sporting dreams".

Brad will tour Sri Lanka with the England Under-17 squad, and is fundraising for the Halapata's Children's Home in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The squad will stage a cricket tournament for 150 pupils at the orphanage and give them food and educational materials.

For Sport Relief, pupils came in their favourite sports kit and raised £230 with a coin collection. The children are also doing a 'design a cricket bat' competition, with signed bats and balls as prizes. Proceeds will go towards Brad's orphanage.
