Former Surrey Artist of the Year Jane Browne led a branch weaving workshop as part of the Farnham Food Festival on September 28.
Part of the New Ashgate Gallery’s Craft Your Year series of drop-in workshops, it attracted a fantastic turnout, with more than 100 branches taken up by enthusiastic participants from Farnham and as far away as Andover.
The creative energy was contagious as parents, children and other festival-goers wove colourful yarns, dried grasses, foil wrappers and fruit nets into beautiful collaborative artworks.
Jane said: “It was wonderful to see people of all ages take part and respond so creatively. The weather didn’t stop anyone; if anything, it made the atmosphere more intimate and joyful. Watching people slow down, focus and make something together was a real highlight.”
