Despite the incessant rain, a programme of music and dance at St Thomas-on-The Bourne Church is planned to brighten the gloom.

On Friday, January 20 at midday there will be an organ recital in aid of the Medizinische Nothilfe Ukranie by St Thomas’ renowned organist Julian Cooper, whose wife is Ukranian.

Julian has given concerts in cathedrals in that country and the charity supplies medical aid to Ukraine. The recital will feature pieces by Bach, Walton, Durufle and Grayson Ives. Wine and canapés will be served from 11.30am in the centenary rooms. All proceeds will go to the charity.

On a lighter note, on Friday, January 27, the church will be transformed into a dancing space for Burns Night.

This will be an enjoyable social evening with good food and dancing and music supplied by the Craigievar Scottish Dance Band, noted for their appearances in Four Weddings and a Funeral and at Windsor Castle.

People are welcome to turn up on the day for Julian Cooper's organ recital.
