The Challengers Carol Concert 2025 will be held at St Andrew’s Church in Farnham on December 5.
Star performers will be the Rock Choir, and there will be mince pies, mulled wine, and Christmas songs to listen to and join in with.
Everyone is welcome, with Challengers’ aim to make the event an inclusive experience for all of its families.
A parent who attended last year’s concert said: “The Challengers Carol Concert really is a very special event to which everyone is able to come and enjoy the time in whichever way works for them.
“My daughter loves getting up and dancing right in front of the musicians, which is more than welcomed - it really is such an inclusive experience.
“I wouldn’t take my daughter to a mainstream carol event as her behaviour is unpredictable and she can be noisy.
“But this event really is for all Challengers’ young people and families - anything goes! I would encourage anyone to come along, we had such a fun time last year.”
St Andrew’s Church is wheelchair accessible, offers families use of a creche in case they need a break, and features Makaton and PECS - Picture Exchange Communication System - in the carol concert booklet to help those with learning disabilities and communication differences understand and enjoy the event.
A Challengers spokesperson said: “There is no expectation for children and young people to sit quietly, and everyone is welcome to express themselves - we love to see children and young people dancing in the aisles.
“Please do get in touch if you have any concerns about accessibility and we will ensure we can meet your individual needs so you and your family can be included.”
Challengers was established in 1979 as The Adventurers Association to address a lack of play for disabled children.
Many disabled young people miss out on play every day. There are many barriers stopping disabled children playing - physical impairments, and a lack of accessible play facilities, time, money and support.
Challengers aims to remove these barriers by providing truly inclusive play and leisure that everyone can enjoy and join in with, no matter how complex their needs are.
Young people at its pre-school, play and youth schemes and 555 Service experience the same fun and friendship as their non-disabled peers, with activities adapted to suit their unique individual needs.
The spokesperson added: “We are passionate champions of inclusion, and 46 years on our vision has not faltered - and we continue to strive for a world where all children and young people can play together freely.”
Doors will open at 4.30pm, when mince pies and mulled wine will be on sale, and the carol concert will run from 5pm to 7pm. Afterwards there will be a chance to buy Challengers Christmas cards.
For tickets, priced £7.50 (two for £12) for those aged 16 and above, and £5 (two for £8) for under-16s, visit https://disability-challengers.org/events/challengers-carol-concert-2025/
