Performing arts organisation Strictly Showtime has lined up an ambitious programme for children in Alton, Farnham, Whitehill and Bordon for 2026.
In March it will stage Chicago: The Musical in Alton. Rehearsals are ongoing and the production is allowing students to experience a professional-level musical that very few young performers get the opportunity to tackle.
Local dance teacher Charlotte Abrahams has worked closely with the cast, creating original choreography inspired by Bob Fosse’s iconic style.
Her sessions have pushed students to develop precision, confidence and characterisation, giving the show a distinctive and polished edge.
Founder and principal Jenny Abbott said the cast’s enthusiasm had been “unforgettable”, adding: “The students are absolutely buzzing about Chicago - it’s unlike anything they’ve performed before, and they’ve risen to the challenge brilliantly.
“But what excites me just as much is everything coming up in 2026. We have a full-scale production of Beauty and the Beast for ages seven to 12, which is already generating huge excitement, and our weekly sessions for ages four to eight will be exploring Rapunzel, featuring much-loved songs from Tangled. The creativity and energy in our sessions just keeps growing, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Strictly Showtime provides weekly drama, dance and musical theatre sessions for children aged from four to 18, along with a range of high-energy holiday workshops.
Young performers take part in themed sessions inspired by hit musicals and films, building confidence, teamwork and stage skills in a fun, supportive environment.
A spokesperson said: “With major productions on the horizon, strong community support and a growing student base, Strictly Showtime is firmly establishing itself as one of East Hampshire and Surrey’s most exciting youth performing arts groups.”
