Five new autumn exhibitions are about to open at the New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham.

The gallery in Waggon Yard will be celebrating their launch with a private view on September 12.

One of them is the exhibition for the Surrey Artist of the Year 2025 competition, which promises to be one for the history books,

Gallery director Dr Outi Remes said: “This is the first time three previous winners of Surrey Artist of the Year – Pippa Ward, Tessa Pearson and Rachel Mulligan – have been back in the shortlist together.

“It shows the extraordinary depth of talent in Surrey and the continuing ambition of these artists. We are proud to present such a strong field alongside our autumn programme.”

The evening will also launch new ceramics by Richard Miller, paintings by Rosalinda Kightley - the Surrey Artist of the Year in 2024, who will give a speech - a paper sculpture by Anna Cook, and the gallery’s Autumn Craft Collection.

The Surrey Artist of the Year 2025 competition exhibition will feature 18 shortlisted artists chosen during the Surrey Artists Open Studios season. Public voting will be open until October 17 at midday.

Richard Miller: Ceramicist in Focus will feature new work by the acclaimed ceramicist, who is the judge of The Great Pottery Throw Down.

Rosalinda Kightley: One Year On is a new collection by the 2024 Surrey Artist of the Year, whose speech will reflect on her year as the champion and talk about her artistic practice.

In Anna Cook: Paper Transformed there will be Intricate paper sculptures by the winner of the New Ashgate Gallery Prize at the 2024 Festival of Crafts.

And the Autumn Craft Collection 2025 will contain hand-made ceramics, jewellery and textiles, plus glass and wood pieces, by leading UK makers.

The exhibitions will run from September 13 to November 1.
