Rumours will be flying around Elstead Village Hall during the Players of Elstead Theatrical Society’s next production.
The Players will be performing Neil Simon’s 1988 comedy Rumours, which starts with the arrival of Ken Gorman and his wife Chris at the tenth anniversary party of New York deputy mayor Charley Brock and his wife Myra.
All the kitchen staff are gone, Myra is missing and Charley has shot himself in the head. Chris calls Charley's doctor, but before Chris can tell him what happened Ken tells her not to, for the bullet only went through Charley's ear lobe.
It appeared he had taken some Valium and was falling asleep as he fired the gun, managing to miss his head. But scandal must be avoided at all costs and rumours are rife.
Rumours will be staged from February 19 to 21. Doors open at 7.15pm and the play will start at 7.45pm. For tickets, priced £13, visit www.elsteadtheatrical.co.uk
Players of Elstead Theatrical Society was founded in 1982 by three Elstead residents at the United Reformed Church Hall in Milford Road - soon moving to the larger Elstead Village Hall in Thursley Road.
It has presented shows including Blithe Spirit, The Constant Wife, ’Allo 'Allo!, Holiday Cottage and The Small Hours.
New members of all ages and levels of experience are welcome, whether they would like to get involved onstage, backstage or front-of-house.
A spokesperson said: “Our productions rely on a wide range of talents - acting, directing, set building, costume making, lighting, sound, props and front-of-house roles that help bring each show to life.
“Joining us is a wonderful way to meet people, learn new skills, contribute to village life and help keep the tradition of local theatre thriving in Elstead. Just be prepared to enjoy yourself!”
