I had a lovely gig on Sunday afternoon with Vic Cracknell Swing Band in the pergola at The Mill in Haslemere.

There were lots of lovely comments about the music – and even some afternoon dancing!

The Mill have live music every Sunday from 4pm to 6pm throughout the summer and we will be back on June 25.

Meanwhile, my Swing Band will be appearing at the Lurgashall Fete this Saturday afternoon – always a delightful afternoon each year with the highlight being the dog race!

It is sometimes quite hard to get gig listings without hunting around on social media and so on, so do email me at [email protected] to let me know of your gigs and events.

An example is Beacon Hill Beer Festival, which is this upcoming weekend where I know there is live music but can’t easily find who is playing.

Music In The Meadow has returned to Farnham Bandstand each Sunday from 3pm to 5pm. There is always great support for live music from Farnham Town Council, but I can’t find the calendar of who is playing!

It is always a nice free event in Gostrey Meadow with a varied programme of music each week.

Next Saturday (June 10) the Login Lounge in Camberley have a night of swing music with Michael Auger.

Michael is a member of Collabro, the world’s most successful musical theatre group, who rose to prominence after winning ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2014.

Their debut album, Stars, went straight into the UK album charts at number one, and the group have since gone on to release a string of highly-successful albums. There are various ticket options including food and a “meet and greet” opportunity. Details at www.loginlounge.co.uk

Guildford Jazz have a summer’s evening concert on Sunday, June 18, celebrating women in jazz. It’s on the lawn at Watts Gallery near Guildford, so take along a picnic and a bottle or two of your favourite summer’s drink and enjoy an evening of great live music in a historic setting. The music will have an all female line-up featuring Hannah Horton on saxophone, Laura Impallemoni on trombone, Wendy Kirkland on piano, Marianne Windham on double bass and Suzanne Cross on drums.

It’s also on the final opening day of Halima Cassell: Into the Earth at Watts Gallery so there’s an opportunity to visit the display before the concert.

A pop-up bar will be available and parking on site. It run from 5pm to 7pm and tickets are available at www.guildfordjazz.org.uk

A reminder that tomorrow (Friday), The Sid James Experience co-headline with Ghosts (Spirit of the Jam) at The Suburbs at The Holroyd, Guildford. Tickets are £12.50 on the door.

Brian Player continues his Folk, Roots and Acoustic music show each Tuesday at 8pm on Wey Valley Radio based in Alton (101.1FM or online at www.weyvalley.uk)
