ESSO has launched a second ‘detailed’ consultation on the preferred route for its underground Southampton to London aviation fuel pipeline.

The pipeline, which Esso says will keep around 100 fuel tankers off the road each day, will replace 56 miles of its existing 65-mile pipeline that runs from the Fawley refinery to a storage facility in Hounslow.

In June, the fuel giant announced ‘Option J’ as the preferred corridor for the replacement pipeline, which will broadly following its existing path through the Alton, Crondall and Church Crookham areas.

Esso’s latest consultation, which ends on October 19, seeks views on its detailed plans, including the preferred route, location of above-ground infrastructure, and potential environmental impacts.
