FORMER Alton woman Estelle Christmas and her team Bob’s Buddies stunned the resident Eggheads in a nail-biting showdown on the BBC 2 quiz show.
Their success in the popular television quiz, which aired last Friday, resulted in a £16,000 cash prize for charity Best Buddies UK.
The cash injection win will make a real difference to the work carried out by Best Buddies, an organisation chosen by team members which supports those living with learning disabilities, autism and Aspergers across the UK.
Estelle, director of services for a charity called Kingwood based in Lower Earley, in Reading, now lives in Farnham with her family.
She said: “I was really nervous when I heard that the prize money had gone up to £16,000 as I knew that winning this would make such a tremendous difference to Best Buddies UK.
“Best Buddies UK is an organisation that myself and my team members are all voluntary members of and which impacts positively on the lives of people with learning disabilities, autism and Aspergers.
“My family really enjoyed watching me on the TV and the fact that my colleagues and I won the overall prize for Best Buddies was an added bonus.”
