According to Michael Watson, managing director of Stagecoach South, with the festive season about to kick in, the decision has been well timed.
“I’m over the moon to be launching this fantastic ticket just in time to make the most of the season’s late-night shopping, festivities and celebrations,” he said.
“Our buses can take away the hassle of trying to park and you can enjoy a drink too. We’re making them even better value, now just £2, which is less than most frothy coffees!”
Named the Nightrider Gold, this new addition to the Stagecoach ticketing service is a new addition to an already competitive range of Stagecoach gold tickets.
A ‘Go-anywhere Megarider Gold’ weighs in at £22 for one week, and is considered “perfect for commuters”, while the student alternative, the ‘Unirider’ works out at less than £13 per week.
Evening services run until around 11pm across many parts of the Stagecoach South network, with enhanced timetables launched this autumn in both Basingstoke and Winchester.
