TO support her volunteering trip to Ghana, 23-year-old Evie Rixon from Farnham has braved the shave, collecting a total of £3,881 in donations and grants.
Evie, a final year student children’s nurse at the University of East Anglia, has donated her hair, which was shaved off by her sister at Jewels Hair Salon in Rowledge, to the Little Princess Trust, a charity with a great cause, providing real hair wigs to children in the UK and Ireland, who have lost their hair due to illness.
“While working as a student paediatric nurse, I have been well and truly inspired by the resilience and positivity of children who are otherwise unwell – whether they have hair or not, they have their smile, and I am proud to stand alongside them,” said Evie.
“So far I have raised £3,881.68 in donations and grants. I am using this money to get me to Ghana, where I will be volunteering as a student paediatric nurse for three weeks.
“This money will also enable me to buy crucial and greatly needed medical supplies for the medical teams in Ghana to use.”
