AS the excitement builds for Fest In The Field at Country Market, Kingsley, shoppers were treated to what turned out to be a profitable ticket selling day earlier this month, supporting the 100 per cent charity event in aid of the Binsted School ‘Big Build Project’.
Supporting the festival organising team were bands Joe Waller and Ellementl, both of whom will be performing live at Fest In The Field on June 11. They chatted to the public, signed autographs, and helped to hand out leaflets to shoppers.
The band members are all from district schools including Amery Hill, Eggar’s, Bohunt and Mill Chase, so fully understand what it’s like to grow up in the Alton, Bordon and Kingsley areas, and they want to support the next generation of children following in their footsteps.
Ellamentl drummer Milo spoke about his school days at Eggar’s, saying: “I have good memories of Eggar’s. It was a great place to study with a good music department.”
Also joining in the revelry was newly-elected East Hampshire District Council chairman and Selborne ward councillor David Ashcroft, who said: “Myself and East Hampshire District Council are absolutely delighted to be able to help and support this fantastic event, and we congratulate the organisers for all their hard work.
“I am sure everyone will agree that Fest in the Field is a celebration for the Queen’s 90th birthday and that it will be fantastic fun, raising lots of money for the Binsted Big Build Project.”
Grateful thanks have been expressed to Country Market for hosting the festival, which will feature live music from headliner Lemar, backed by Bordon lad Joe Waller (of X Factor fame), Ellamentl, The Scheme, Junco Shakers, Key Lime Pi, and All Night Workers.
There will also be lots of children’s activities such as SportsZone and KidsZone, including a climbing wall, archery, golf and tennis, and even a visit from Peppa Pig for the younger children.
In addition, school choristers will be competing in an informal choir competition with prizes presented by East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds.
Tickets, priced £5 for children and £8 for adults, are available in advance at festinthefield.co.uk or on the gate.
