THE Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux, visited the Rural Life Centre this month to close the ‘Thursley Goes to War’ exhibition.

Developed by the Thursley History Society to commemorate the centenary of the First World War, the exhibition was based on life on the home front as well as the incredible stories of local men who served in The Great War.

It has been touring the county for the past two years and the Rural Life Centre was the final exhibition.

Closing the exhibition on June 1, the Lord-Lieutenant Mr More-Molyneux commemorated the men that fell during the war and praised the Thursley History Society for its exhaustive research.

The Rural Life Centre is also currently hosting an exhibition of more than 30 artists’ paintings and sculptures from the First World War until September 4.

Next up in its diary will be a prefab exhibition on July 3, the annual fire engines show on July 9 and 10, Rustic Sunday on July 31, a classic vehicle gathering on September 18, Land Rover Day on October 9 and the Santa Special event over the weekends of the December 10 and 17.
