SHOWSHACK’S Elite Theatre Group were “spectacular” in Fame the Musical, according to an audience of almost 200 people who came to see their first ever in-theatre production.
The 19-stong cast of the most experienced Showshack students performed the all singing, all dancing show at Weydon School’s Medici Theatre on Saturday, May 18, using professional lights, sounds and audio visuals.
Directed and choreographed by Showshack tutor Elle Branch, and with choreography by Showshack dance teacher Laura Mullowney, Showshack’s Elite Theatre Group performed Fame the Musical, which plots the highs and lows of students from New York City’s High School for the Performing Arts, with a modern twist.
Showshack Elite Theatre Group work with professional choreographers, directors and casting agents as well as delivering musical theatre productions once a year.
Previous productions include Spring Awakening, Little Shop of Horrors and Grease. Many members of Elite have already performed in London’s West End, on TV and have secured their Grade 8 and Advanced levels in dance, drama and singing, at the same time securing UCAS points.
The Elite Theatre Group gives students a platform to prepare for auditioning for drama and performing arts schools as well as drama at university, however some members use the training to develop skills for their future.
Based in The Bourne Hall, Farnham, Showshack has been established for 24 years and offers a range of dance classes, musical theatre classes and weekend theatre school.
