STRUGGLING families in Farnham are on the brink of "starvation", according to a community campaigner's speech at the Labour party conference.

Lee Godfrey, who is also secretary of the Runnymede and Weybridge Labour party, told party members that families in some of the most affluent areas of the country are relying on free food donations to feed their children.

He made his comments at the annual Labour party conference on October 2 after dozens of emergency food banks were set up in towns across Surrey – including Farnham – to help feed families struggling to make ends meet.
