A HEADLEY Down family is seeking compensation from Thames Water after a blocked pipe left them and two other families with raw sewage in their front gardens.

Denise and David DawsonÕs home was one of three Larch Road houses which had raw sewage in their front gardens after a pipe was blocked for two days.

The blockage of a pipe near the Larch Road/Maple Way junction meant that raw sewage started to seep out of the man hole covers in the front gardens of the three homes last Tuesday and Wednesday until Thames Water unblocked the pipe last Thursday.

The mother-of-three explained: ÒIt was horrendous, we had everyone elseÕs sewage in our gardens.

ÒThe Wednesday was the worst - it was like a river which went all down our gardens and out into the road where our cars are all parked.Ó

ÒWe asked if we could be rehoused while this was going on but we were told that we couldnÕt.Ó

The gardens of the three households which reported the problem were eventually cleared and disinfected by Thames Water on Saturday morning but Mrs Dawson has told The Herald that she is planning to complain about the incident.

ÒWe have lived here for six years and have had problems with the sewers in the past but nothing like this,Ó she said.

ÒI am going to write a letter to complain and I want some kind of compensation for it. I want two days water rates back or something for what we went through.Ó
