A YOUNG family was terrified when a group of motorcyclists forced their car to slow down and then repeatedly kicked it. Police have appealed for witnesses to Sunday's incident on Farnham Road in Haslemere, close to National Trust land. Around 12-15 pm the couple and their young child were driving along the road in a blue Audi A3 when a group of between six and eight trials motorbikes approached from the opposite direction at speed along the 30 mph limit road. The father, who was driving, said that he flashed his headlights and indicated that the motorcyclists should slow down. As the first motorcyclist was level with the car, the rider shouted an obscenity, claimed the driver, who said that four of the motorcyclists then turned their bikes around and followed his car. The driver further claimed that one rider came alongside the car and kicked it, making a dent. The other three motorcyclists circled the car, forcing it to stop, and made more dents in its bodywork. The motorcyclists all made off in the direction of Hindhead Common. The riders are described as wearing full-face helmets, with leathers and heavy boots. One rider was described as having a slight, blondish beard or heavy stubble. The detective in charge of the investigation, Dc Ian Paley, would like to hear from any witnesses. "This was a particularly distressing and alarming incident for the victim and his family to have to experience," he said. Dc Paley can be contacted on 084 125 2222 or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555 111.
