A FORMER Liss man who has been struggling to bring his brotherÕs killers to justice for 15 years has welcomed a new arrest this week in connection with the brutal murder.

A man in his 40s was arrested in south London last week in connection with the murder of Daniel Morgan 15 years ago. He was later released on police bail without charge.

Mr Morgan, a private investigator, was found in the car park of a South London pub in March 1987 with an axe embedded in his skull.

Raju Bhatt, the Morgan familyÕs solicitor, said in a statement on their behalf: ÒDaniel MorganÕs family have been struggling for over 15 years to bring his murderers to justice. They welcome the arrest made in the course of this fresh investigation by the Metropolitan police, but they will be watching its progress closely: they know that previous inquiries have appeared reluctant to confront the implications of the available evidence.

ÒThey want to believe that those responsible for this new inquiry will have the sincerity and courage to follow those implications to their conclusion, and they call on anyone, anywhere, who has information which might help solve DanielÕs murder to contact Det Chief Supt David Cook of the murder investigation team.Ó

The 15-year-old case was highlighted on BBCÕs Crimewatch in July, and police appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Crimewatch presenter Nick Ross said: ÒThe reason this case is so controversial is because one of the detectives involved in the early part of the investigation finished up running DanielÕs agency.Ó

Det Chief Supt Cook told him: ÒWe acknowledge some difficulties in the early stages of this investigation but I am here to reinvestigate, and hopefully through this appeal I will get the nugget of information which will solve this case.Ó
