THE hunt is on for a new chief executive at East Hampshire District Council and £90,000 is being offered to tempt the right candidate.
The councilÕs current chief exec, Phillip Burton, will be leaving for Norfolk later this summer and officials are keen to find a replacement as soon as possible.
In an advertisement in The Times last week, EHDC describes itself as Òa high-performing council which has achieved considerable successÓ.
And the council is looking for a candidate with Òdrive, determination and personality to take us to the next levelÓ.
But £90,000 is not the only carrot tempting prospective candidates - there is also the Òbeautiful location near the South Downs in PetersfieldÓ which offers Ôthe opportunity to enjoy a quite exceptional quality of lifeÓ.
The chief executive is the most senior officer within a local authority and head of the paid service.
Although there are no set qualifications for the post the majority tend to be lawyers or accountants.
The chief executive acts as the politically neutral chief advisor to the council and has the ultimate responsibility of carrying out the councilÕs wishes.
