BORDON came alive to the sound of music on Sunday, when bands played a concert at the Garrison Church Field in Station Road. Seven bands played at the Party in the Park event, each doing a 45-minute set. Grapevine, Steve Grattan, Hidden Image, The Source, Out of the Blue, Eddey's Lane and Funky Clawed all took to the stage. Warrant Officer 2nd Class (WO2) Lee Saunders, who helped to organise the event, said: "I was really impressed with the quality of all of the bands. They were all really good and everyone in the crowd seemed to be having a great time. "The atmosphere was really fantastic and there was no trouble at all. You sometimes hear of trouble at events like these, but everyone behaved and there were no disturbances. "We kept up the bouncy castle from the fete that we held on Saturday, so the children were kept entertained while their parents enjoyed the music." Funds raised by the Party in the Park and Saturday's Bordon Garrison church fete will be split between two charities. The first, Over the Wall, supports children with special needs and the second is an appeal for Norton House, which rehabilitates injured servicemen and women and offers support to their loved ones. Almost £6,000 was raised.
