FOUR big-hearted residents have taken on a 100km challenge to raise money for charity.

Haslemere’s Pete Swatton and Andy Connor, Liphook’s Iain McArthur and Robert Bennett, who lives in Petersfield, pictured, will be taking part in Oxfam Trailwalker, a fundraising event on South Downs Way, in which teams of four walk try to 100 km in fewer than 30 hours.

Their group , called Strolling Under the Influence, is in training for the walk, which takes place on July 29 and 30, starting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Petersfield.

To swell the charity’s coffers, they have also organised a family fun day on June 24 at The Apple Tree pub at Lion Green in Haslemere and are hoping for a good turnout.

“We decided to enter Trailwalker in January,” Andy said. “None of us have done anything like this, but somehow Robert managed to persuade us and now we’re really looking forward to it.”

On offer at the family fun day from 1pm on June 24, will be a barbecue, a bouncy castle, face painting and live music by Martin Harley, Ukejam, Slack Maverick.”
