CATASTROPHIC problems for farmers, caused by the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, have been spelled out at a conference held at the local National Farmers Union headquarters in Liss.

At the meeting representatives of the NFU from Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey met with Hampshire County Council's trading standards officer Tony Langstone and local farmer Peter Datlen from Ropley.
