THE future of Farnham Castle, built more than 800 years ago, hangs in the balance this week after its management company, Farnham Castle Briefings Ltd, entered administration.

Negotiations have been conducted intensively but in strict confidence since the beginning of August to find someone prepared to take over the business of the Farnham landmark.

However, there is concern that the castle might become the private headquarters of a business or organisation with no connection with Farnham, thus breaking the close link with the town enjoyed for many decades.
