Gardeners have been urged to dish the dirt and join volunteers for this year’s Farnham in Bloom preparations as 12,000 pots need filling with compost.

The pots will later be filled with plug plants which will eventually bloom in the town’s hanging baskets, planters and containers.

If you would like to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty then sessions will run from 9am to midday next Thursday and Friday (February 26 and 27) with any contribution welcome.

“This is a really important task at which anybody can help,” said Cllr Mat Brown, adding no gardening experience is required just “enthusiasm and willingness” to get involved.

“We’ll provide all tools and equipment, and gloves are available, although volunteers are welcome to bring their own. We recommend attendees wear comfortable clothing suitable for gardening and being outdoors.”

After registering their interest, volunteers will receive details about where to meet and additional information about the task.

On the day, they will be met by volunteer and task coordinator John Ely who will welcome participants, explain the activity, introduce fellow volunteers, and answer any questions to ensure everyone feels confident and supported.

Refreshments will be provided, to register your interest or learn more, visit www.farnham.gov.uk.
