Farnham Library will host a From Punishment to Pride event tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 6) as part of LGBTQ+ History month.

The event is run by Surrey History Centre and will provide an opportunity to learn more about the lives of Surrey’s historic LGBTQ+ individuals.

Some of the names include Dame Ethel Smyth, Edward Carpenter, EM Forster and Alan Turing.

Organisers hope the event will raise awareness of Surrey’s past and how the history centre’s collections help provide insight into critical stories from 18th century punishment to 21st century pride.

The event will be at Farnham Library from 5.45pm to 6.45pm and will be run by the Woking-based Surrey History Centre's collections development archivist Di Stiff.

Tickets are £5 each and can be purchased at the library helpdesk and payment can be made upon arrival on the day.

Alternatively, contact [email protected] and the charge can be added to a person’s library account if they have one.
