A key junction in Farnham town centre will be closed for ten weeknights early next month.

Surrey County Council have announced the Longbridge junction will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8.30pm to 6am for ten weeknights from Monday, August 4.

Vehicles will be able to travel south from Waggon Yard car park, without having to go around the town centre gyratory, when the work is completed.

But the overnight closure at the junction will severely limit access to much of the town centre over the period with car parks and key roads affected. It means:

  • There will be no vehicle access to Waggon Yard and Central car parks, although people will be able to drive out.
  • No vehicle access to Downing Street, Victoria Road, Vicarage Lane or Lower, Middle or Upper Church Lanes, although people will be able to drive out.
  • Residents and businesses on Union Road will be able to access their properties as usual, but they will need to liaise with the site team on these nights to drive out.
  • Vehicles will not be able to access or exit St Andrews Court on Downing Street between 8.30pm and 6am on specific nights, with the site team liaising with affected residents and businesses.

Pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services will be able to travel through the junction and access to Farnham Maltings will be open as usual.

Buses that normally serve Union Road will miss this bus stop after 8.30pm and diversions will be in place. Roads will be open as normal during the day, and on Saturday and Sunday nights.

The council has also reminded motorists that Downing Street will be closed to through traffic from August 18 until 1 November 1.
