THIRTY-THREE Farnham Runners competed in the annual club championship. Starting from The Bourne Green, the undulating 10km course is mainly on roads, but with a track section through woods.
Men's captain Charles Ashby was the jubilant winner, taking the senior men's shield with a time of 38mins 12, improving his last year's result by almost two minutes.
Graham Wilton crossed the line in 38-22 to become the new veteran champion.
There was keen competition at the front for these awards and Steve Murphy (39-12, 2nd veteran), Richard Hosmer (40-12, 2nd senior) and Vince Crowley (41-00, 3rd vet) were all in contention for most of the race.
Nigel Twort (41-22) and Jim Bosworth (41-36) ran strongly for sixth and seventh positions, while Richard Baldock (42-54), Robert Murdoch (43-15) and Bob Brimicombe (43-29) showed the value of their recent training.
The 100th member to join the club, Don Melvin (46-39) won the male super veteran category, with Geoff Cloke (47-23) second and Stuart Edgoose (55-05) third.
Frances Britain took the senior ladies' title (47-53), just behind first and second veteran ladies Jo Edson (47-26) and Sara Fitzgerald (47-31). Nicolette Overy (48-29) was third veteran ahead of Lindsay Bamford (49-00).
Jane Georghiou, who ran easily the fastest ladies' time of 43-43, took the super-veteran shield, followed by Julie Russ (52-14) and Bibi Hope-Johnson (55-04).

Andy Green, one of Farnham Runners' most successful members who is leaving for Canada soon, was invited to present the trophies.
