Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Khalil Yousuf praised Farnham’s sporting achievers at the recent Farnham Sports Awards, emphasising the unifying power of sports beyond politics and demographics.
Mr Yousuf expressed his delight at being in the company of such sporting “greats,” acknowledging the role of sports in strengthening communities.
He commended award winners, sponsors, athletes, and their supporters, recognising the dedication of volunteers and community groups that have served Farnham’s sports scene for decades.
Mr Yousuf particularly lauded the Farnham Sports Council’s remarkable 50-year commitment to championing sports.
He pledged unwavering support, promising to safeguard sports and arts funding, stating: “I pledge to do everything I can to support you all, not least by protecting sports and arts funding via the National Lottery.”
