SURREY Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) David Munro met Farnham Town Council leader John Neale to discuss the local authority’s vision for a new ‘community hub’.

The hub hopes to become a way to “improve access for residents to meet their local police”.

The independent PCC welcomed the council leader to Surrey Police headquarters in Guildford last Friday, including a tour of the Surrey Police contact centre and control room.

Mr Munro said: “I am fully supportive of these plans by the council, and look forward to exploring this in future meetings with the town council.

“Surrey police officers, and Police Community Support Officers in particular, are actively engaged in our communities and I welcome any way in which we can further enhance our engagement with local residents.”

Surrey Police’s approach to neighbourhood policing was recently described by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) as “excellent” and maintaining the effectiveness of this is a “priority” to the PCC.
