It’s known for its budget-friendly but tasty home-cooked fare.
In a town renowned for its high-end dining options, however, would Greggs fit into the scene?
The answer seems to be yes, as on its first morning of opening on Thursday (September 4) at Romans Business Park in East Street, a steady stream of customers came to try it out.
And according to them, its arrival could be a recipe for success for the town.
Travelling to Farnham with his friend to watch a show at the Maltings was Barney Dick, or Triple B as he is known in the boxing world.
He believed it could help revitalise the east end of Farnham and the nearby Brightwells development, which has attracted criticism for its prevalence of empty spaces.
Mr Dick said:"Farnham is full of independent businesses but why Greggs has succeeded throughout the country is its affordability.
“Where else in Farnham can you get a meal for two for less than £10? That is why Greggs is so successful and Farnham will be no different.
“This brings more people to the East of the town centre which has been let down by Brightwells Yard and sites like the Woolmead.”
The Jones family also headed down to Greggs on opening day for a family lunch.
John Jones said:"We love Greggs and what is even better is we can see it from the in-law's house. It is exciting as the east of town is getting Wetherspoons and Greggs which provide a different experience to what Farnham is usually and it's affordable."
Donna Jones said:"A lot of people have been moaning about Greggs coming to the town but we think it is a good thing that affordable places to eat are coming to the town.
“To get food like Greggs we would usually have to go to Aldershot. We knew it was open because we drove past it yesterday and saw the signs go up and when people started to go in we thought let’s go to eat there."
Whether it’s steak bakes or sausage rolls, there’s clearly an appetite for Greggs in the town.
