A PORTSMOUTH man was killed and another man seriously injured in a two-car collision on the A325 about a mile south of Birdworld last Friday. Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses to the crash, which took place at about 5.30am on the stretch of road passing through Alice Holt Forest. The road was closed for six-and-a-half hours. The driver who was killed, Peter Croft, 53, of Lime Grove, Portsmouth, was driving north towards Farnham in a blue Honda Civic which collided with a grey Volkswagen Golf travelling south towards Bordon. He died at the scene and his body was taken to North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke. The driver of the Volkswagen, a 45-year-old Bordon man, received serious leg injuries and was expected to undergo surgery at Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford. His passenger, a 30-year-old Bordon man, suffered cuts and bruises. Police especially want to hear from the driver of a large goods vehicle which is believed to have been at the scene and who may have vital information about the crash.
