PETERSFIELD town councillors have voiced concern over anti-flooding measures proposed as part of plans to turn the former Churcher's Junior School into homes. Developers plan to raise the level of the land at the back of the building above the perceived flood level and build a wall between the northern bank of the Southern Stream and the former school building, with openings to allow floodwater out. But members of the town council's planning committee who examined the plans this week say they do not believe the measures are enough to stop flooding. They have raised grave concerns which councillors have passed to East Hampshire District Council. Town councillors have already objected to the plan on the grounds that there is inadequate parking for the proposed 10 homes.
