FEARS are rife that East Hampshire will be forced to find land for an additional 1,500 homes over and above the 5,500 already outlined on the second review of the district local plan, the blueprint for development until the year 2011.

Hampshire County Council were due to decide on Monday whether to bow to pressure from central government and acceptr an additional 14,000 in the county. The knock-on effect could mean a lot more than the proposed 340 new dwellings being built in the Alton area.
