ALTON Town Council's recreation committee has agreed increases from April 1 of up to nearly 24 per cent in fees and charges for use of its sports facilities.

In a report to the recreation committee, town clerk Steve Parkinson said that while last year's increases were between four and five per cent, there had been marked improvements to the facilities which would be reflected in this year's tariffs.
