FELINE fans turned creative in a festive-themed workshop at Cats Protection’s Haslemere Adoption Centre on Upper Hammer Lane.

The ‘Kittmas Krafternoon’ led by the charity’s Helen Waterman was an opportunity to make either cat-themed decorations for £25 or a festive wreath for £30, with proceeds from the session donated to help local cats and kittens.

Helen created the workshops, which she led at Haslemere in conjunction with independent florists The Flower Hub. The Godalming-based business donated its time and expertise free of charge to benefit the cats in care.

“I’ve been delighted with the response,” she said. “The first event at Haslemere has been well received and was enjoyed by all the attendees, who had a lot of festive fun.”

Haslemere was the first adoption centre opened by Cats Protection in 1950 and has helped give countless cats and kittens a second chance, as well as helping thousands of people find a much-loved family pet. Cats Protection now has 36 adoption centres, a national network of more than 250 volunteer-run branches, and helps around 200,000 cats each year.

The Haslemere centre currently has many cats looking for new homes before Christmas, including seven-year-old Moo Moo who is looking for a new home without other cats. She is used to a quiet household so would be looking for similar circumstances. She is not used to going outside but would like the opportunity to, so will need a safe garden to potter around.

Another cat at Haslemere’s adoption centre looking for its “forever home”, is three-year-old Batman. He was quite underweight when he came into care but is now looking healthier and is a friendly and loving cat ready for adoption. Ideally, Batman needs a quiet home with no other pets or children.
