Two supporters of the Fernhurst Hub have a special royal memory.

Chair of trustees Antonia Plant and voluntary manager Pauline Colcutt attended the Buckingham Palace garden party in May. The invitations were issued in recognition of the hub’s receipt of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Antonia said: “It was a great honour to be presented with the Queen’s Award in 2021 by Her Majesty’s representative, Susan Pyper, Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex.

“The glass award memento – now on display at the hub with the royal citation signed by the Queen – was earned by the hard work and service of our many volunteers. Our visit in May to the Buckingham Palace garden party was a real highlight.”

Pauline added: “The late Queen’s example of dedication to service has been an inspiration to so many of us, and the Queen’s Award will remind us of that.”
